Adventures Abound: Dublin and more!

Our second day in Dublin got off to a pretty lazy start. Ramona and I slept in fairly late, while Laura got up and got around our little neighborhood. Once we roused ourselves, we rushed off to catch a taxi and head to Kilmainham Gaol, an old restored prison, notorious for the political prisoners held here at the turn of the century.

Afterwards, it was a short walk across the street to the Irish Museum of Modern Art for lunch. Actually, the museum was just across the street - and the walking path to the museum as just over a half-time (way to go Laura!). After a nice lunch in the museum café, we walked to our next stop: The Guinness Brewery tour! And walk we did!

The Brewery tour was pretty interesting, detailing the process of brewing beer, and culminated with a pint atop the building, with a 360-degree view of Dublin! We had time for much-needed breather and took a few interesting pictures of the city skyline.

After a short walk to a bus stop, we rode the bus to the train station. We were heading to Balbriggan to meet up with Believers in Dublin for Fellowship this evening! Our train ride reminded me of our experiences in Japan - the train started off lightly populated when we left, then quickly filled up as people began to leave work. After a few stops, much of the train emptied, then quickly filled up again. As we neared our stop, however, much of the crowd left with us.

The Dublin Believers met us shortly thereafter at the train station and drove us to their nearby home. We were warmly greeted by the children at the door and were treated to a wonderful fellowship! After dinner, we posed for pictures in the backyard, then shared a wonderful meal. The after-dinner conversation was warm, letting us share about our experiences here and how things are contrasted at home. Before long, however, we had to bid our new friends adieu.
